About Us
Sidcup Cricket Club has been in existence since 1877, as you can see from the logo above!
On the site of the old Crescent Farm, the Club is now in the fourth clubhouse to grace the ground, the latest being opened in 2004.
Facilities are shared with Sidcup RFC and Crescent LTA, though the Cricket Club is proud to be the original occupant.
In 2008, the Cricket Club was accredited with Clubmark, thus demonstrating that we run our Club in a way approved by the ECB
and providing non-discriminatory cricket for the community. Shortly afterwards, we were also awarded Focus Club status,
because of our aims to improve the facilities, the playing standards and to encourage "Sport for All".
You may have noticed the bold statement above - "We love our cricket". Well, we really do. A number of people at this Club work tirelessly to make sure the best possible results are obtained on the pitch and on the social side. That way more people can enjoy their cricket without worrying about "other stuff". We play with a smile on our faces, but we play to win. It's more enjoyable to win!
We have the incredible fortune to have amongst our members, John Wilson. John was the Assistant Head Coach at Lord's for a number of years, until he retired recently. In that time he coached county and international players. He had some quiet time away from coaching, but now he is our Head Coach and 1st XI Coach. I am not sure that there is a better coach in club cricket. He's forgotten more than most people know! John will make a difference this season, there is no doubt. And the Colts are already benefitting greatly from his expertise. As are our other coaches.
Supporting John is new 1st XI skipper, Tim "Cookie" Cook. Cookie wanted the job badly, as he is very much up for taking this Club back to the higher echelons of the the league structure. Where it belongs!
